Welcome to the Physics Subject Knowledge Enhancement course page.
At Autograph SKE, the Physics subject knowledge enhancement (SKE) course covers essential learning that you need to become an outstanding and inspiring classroom practitioner of physics. The SKE physics course contains topic titles covering the full range of GCSE and GCE Physics content delivered at UK schools. Not only is our physics SKE programme tailored to your specific subject knowledge needs, there are also enrichment modules and content that is included for both your own interest and to help you to inspire budding physicists of the future, i.e. your students once you begin your initial teacher training.
You will be assigned 2 tutors, a personal and academic tutor, to help you every step along the way.
Our physics SKE course is run in such a way as to treat each of our trainees as individuals. Learning physics can be challenging and so the personal and bespoke nature of Autograph’s Physics SKE makes us the #1 choice for pre-ITT students looking to enhance their physics subject knowledge prior to taking up their ITT training at both Schools Direct and University directed courses.
The extensive list of modules, which are supported by the Blackboard platform, has been written by physics teachers from schools that have been judged as outstanding by Ofsted, and so you can be confident that your training will be from cutting edge teachers with knowledge of outstanding practices. If you are following one of our longer physics courses, we run an all-expenses paid trip to CERN, Geneva, to support your learning on our particle physics module - please see below for details of the trip.
To support the practical aspect of good physics teaching, our modules include signposting to many of the typical practical investigations that you would need to have a knowledge of as a physics teacher in a UK school. If studying our courses full time, as a general guide we expect that you will be able to dedicate 25 hours of study per week for each module. A full 36 week course will contain 36 modules.
